Orchestra
The Russian Chamber Philharmonic St Petersburg was founded in 1990 by graduates of the renowned St Petersburg State Conservatorium. Celebrating its 20th anniversary in the season 2010/2011, the orchestra impressively showcased the fine musical talent of its members, as well as the high standard of music education of its homeland. Frequent concerts throughout Europe by the Russian Chamber Philharmonic St. Petersburg have received highest praise from both critics and audiences alike. Tours have taken them to major European centers, International Festivals and renowned concert halls. The broad range of repertoire – from Baroque to Contemporary – and extraordinary variety of music genre and programs including orchestral works, oratorios, musicals, operas and operetta, has made the orchestra one of the most sought after orchestras of Europe. The orchestra's virtuosity and particular sound quality has led to regular performances with international stars, such as late Mstislav Rostropovich, Igor Oistrach, Mikis Theodorakis, Sir James Galway, Mischa Maisky, Andrei Gavrilov, David Garrett, Sergei Nakariakov and many others. Highlights in 2010 and 2011 include the orchestra’s performances at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall (Germany), Teatro Real Madrid (Spain), Teatro dell'Opera di Roma (Italy), Theatre de Luxembourg (Belgium), Bartok Concert Hall, Budapest (Hungary), Vichy Opera (France), Moscow Kremlin Palace (Russia), Antwerp Koenigin Elisabeth Zaal (Belgium), Salzburg Festival Hall (Austria), Tonhalle Zuerich (Switzerland), and the Gewandhaus Leipzig, Cologne Philharmonic Hall, Munich Philharmonie, Bayreuth Opera House, and Stuttgart Liederhalle (Germany), among other halls. Concert tours in 2012/13 will take the orchestra again to major concert centers in Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Turkey.
