Cal
Composer Classical/New Age/World

Bridging the gap between Classical, New Age and World music, American composer "Cal," gives us a unique and exciting blend of sound, substance and style. A rich symphonic experience with ambience to spare and enough cultural diversity to win the hearts of music lovers around the globe, Cal has begun to redefine the world of contemporary instrumental music.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, the self taught musician spent over a decade as a New York City Police Officer in one of the city's roughest neighborhoods, an experience he credits with instilling in him the compassion, understanding and hope that his fans find permeate his music. "Horizon," Cal's debut CD, released in 2001, was placed as an entrant in the GRAMMY Awards competition that same year under the "Best New Age Album" category and has since been heard on American television and radio stations around the world. Since that time, the composer has been writing and recording his upcoming release, "Forever," as well as preparing for a live concert series / television taping that will afford his fans a glimpse of the composer's world like never before. Two years in the making, the live film will showcase Cal and his core band of nine instrumental soloists along with The Horizon Symphony Orchestra in concert as they perform selections from "Horizon" and "Forever." The film will make its premiere on American PBS stations in the summer of 2007.

The television special, titled "Forever and Beyond," will present Cal's current live show as well as an accompanying documentary that chronicles the entire production, from it's inception, through auditions and rehearsals, right up to opening night. The show was captured by a multi-camera video team in stunning high definition and recorded by a multiple GRAMMY award winning audio unit that has recorded the Nirvana "unplugged" album, worked with Hall and Oates, Billy Joel, and engineered Mariah Carey through five platinum albums.

"Forever and Beyond," both the Live CD and DVD/Video are scheduled for release summer 2007.
