Mr. Mozhayev joined the Mariinsky Theatre (Kirov Opera) in 1997 and has been a leading singer with that company ever since. Mr. Mozhayev has sung in many of the world's great opera houses with the Mariinsky Theatre including the Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden, and the Teatro alla Scala, as well as numerous additional engagements in Japan, Germany, France, Great Britain, Spain, Holland, Belgium, Turkey, Portugal, Finland, Argentina, Sweden, Australia, and Italy.

In 2002, Mr. Mozhayev made his debut with the Metropolitan Opera as Napoleon Bonaparte in that company's sprawling production of Prokofiev's War and Peace. In July of 2003, Mr. Mozhayev traveled once again with the Mariinsky Theatre to the Metropolitan Opera, where he sang the roles of Poyarok in Rimsky-Korsakov's Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh.

Mr. Mozhayev's most recent season highlights include his performances in the title role of Wagner's Der Fliegende Holländer and Alberich in Das Rheingold with the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Argentina (conducted by Charles Dutoit), Napoleon Bonaparte in Prokofiev's War and Peace in Tokyo, Japan, and the roles of Donner and Gunther in Wagner's Ring at Baden-Baden's Festspielhaus in Germany.

Commercial recordings in which Mr. Mozhayev has participated include the 2002 Grammy Award winning (Best Choral Performance) recording of Sofia Gubaidulina's Johannes Passion, a live recording of Rimsky-Korsakov's Sadko from La Fenice in Venice, Italy, and a video recording & DVD of Amfortas in Wagner's Parsifal from the Mariinsky Theatre, featuring Plácido Domingo in the title role.

Born in the Ukrainian town of Luhansk, baritone Fedor Mozhayev is a graduate of the Kharkov Conservatoire in the Northeastern Ukraine. In 1991, he was a Special Diploma winner of the Solomiya Krushelnytska International Vocal Competition in Lviv, Ukraine. From 1992-1996, Mr. Mozhayev was a soloist with the Bolshoi Theatre and Moscow New Opera.
